It’s mandatory and could help save your life.
 
Here is why you need to complete the beacon registration:
 

  • It’s FREE and you can update it as many times as you wish.

  • The information is only used for search and rescue purposes or beacon false alarms.  Confirmation email/mail will be sent to verify your registration.

  • In the event that your beacon is activated the information you provide will be appended to the distress message transmitted. This information is critical for SAR forces to locate you in a timely manner and could possibly save your life.

  • Its gives search and rescue your contacts information, so that your friends and family can provide valuable information about you in an emergency.

  • If your beacon was to falsely activate, search and rescue can contact you to verify if it is an emergency or not.

  • Its fast.  Register online at: www.beaconregistration.noaa.gov/

  • Its the law.

 
Be responsible, it only take 10 minutes to register, but it could be the most important 10 minutes of your life if you ever do need to activate your beacon.
