The Presidents' Message

By Paul M. Frank
President of ACR

Owning a 406 MHz EPIRB or PLB is better than any other form of insurance you may purchase. A 406 MHz beacon will not pay you money, but a 406 MHz beacon is better than insurance because its benefit is the opportunity to survive an event that would otherwise result in death or serious injury.

406 MHz beacons can tell Search and Rescue who you are, where you are and that you need help from any where in the world. While there is no guarantee that a 406 MHz beacon will lead to rescue, the number of rescues credited to this technology now exceeds 20,000.

Whether you are sailing the high seas, climbing to the top of the world, trekking in dense jungles or soaring amongst the clouds you will find no cheaper form of insurance with a greater award benefit than a 406 MHz beacon. They have become too inexpensive for anyone who recreates in the great outdoors to leave home without one. Even those who are not outdoors enthusiasts are buying these small, lightweight devices for their loved ones who are.

ACR’s mission statement provides in part, “We will build quality products knowing they are used to save lives…” Implicit in the statement is that ACR does its utmost to build products that work the first time, every time. Said differently, we do not just build safety signaling products, we build a form of life insurance; a form of insurance where the award benefit could be life itself. If you are going to enjoy the outdoors, take responsibility for your own well-being. Be prepared and carry a 406 MHz EPIRB or PLB.
