FOR LAUDERDALE, FL-Cobham Beacon Solutions -ACR Products has
introduced The Nauticast™ Receive Only AIS, an affordable,
simple-to-install entry level Automatic Identification System
targeting both sail and powerboat recreational boaters.
Capturing real time AIS data, the Nauticast™ Receive Only easily
interfaces with a boater's chart plotter, radar or computer to
provide a real time navigational safety tool. Featuring a dual
channel receiver, the Nauticast™ Receive Only AIS offers
exceptional sensitivity to ensure maximum range and reception of
all AIS transmissions from both Class A and Class B systems. Data
received from AIS transmissions would include position, speed,
course and vessel identification- highly useful information,
especially in areas of high vessel traffic or in bad weather with
limited visibility.
Special features include:
- Dual Channel receiver (ensures that all AIS messages are
received simultaneously)
- Exceptional receiver sensitivity ensures maximum range in the
field
- Standard NMEA0183 output enables simple interfacing with most
AIS enabled chart plotters
- Robust fire retardant, marine grade, water resistant plastic
enclosure
- USB connectivity for simple integration with PC charting
software
- Uses standard PL259 VHF Antenna input connector
- 12 or 24 V DC power input
- Act as a multiplexer for one additional third-party NMEA
device
The MSRP for the Nauticast™ Receive Only AIS is $320.00 and the
product is currently available worldwide. For a list of dealers go

About AIS
AIS is a shipboard radar display, with overlaid electronic chart
data, that includes a mark for every significant ship within radio
range, each as desired with a velocity vector (indicating speed and
heading). Each ship "mark" could reflect the actual size of the
ship, with position to GPS or differential GPS accuracy. By
"clicking" on a ship mark, one can learn the ship name, course and
speed, classification, call sign, registration number, MMSI, and
other information. Manoeuvring information, closest point of
approach (CPA), time to closest point of approach (TCPA) and other
navigation information, more accurate and more timely than
information available from an automatic radar plotting aid, can
also be available. There are a number of types of AIS
devices, including Class A and Class B transceivers, AIS base
stations, Aid to Navigation (AtoN) transceivers and AIS receivers
such as the Nauticast™ Receive Only AIS.
