FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida- Cobham Beacon Solutions today
announced they have received 24 Technical Standard Order (TSO)
authorizations from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for
the Artex Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) product line.
The FAA has allowed transition of the previous approval from Cobham
Avionics in Prescott, AZ to ACR Electronics in Fort Lauderdale FL
under the new Part 21 Transfer Process as the two Business Units
are combined.
This TSO authorization means that Artex ELT Products are now
under the design control and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) of
the Fort Lauderdale office which also has a long history of
controlled quality, precision designing and testing, and lean
manufacturing of Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons,
Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs) and survival lighting products for
the marine, outdoor, aviation and military markets. Fort
Lauderdale will now be responsible for both design and the
production process of the 24 TSO approvals for the Artex ELT
product line including the ME-406, C-406, B-406, G-406 and SLB406
line of Emergency Locator Transmitters as well as legacy battery
packs, remote switches and cable assemblies.
"These transfers are the result of a well-coordinated effort
between our business units and two regional offices of the FAA,"
said Michael Wilkerson, General Manager. "With the addition of
Artex ELTs, Cobham Beacon Solutions has completed the integration
of three product families into one business unit. Our customers and
suppliers will benefit from this concentration of engineering,
production, quality, sales and support capabilities."
Artex designs and manufactures a wide array of Emergency
Locator Transmitters (ELTs) for General, Business, Commercial and
Military Aviation applications as well as battery packs and ELT
accessories. The business of Artex is global and customers range
from the individual private pilot to the world's largest airframe
manufacturers, airlines and governments. Fort Lauderdale will
continue to support these products and maintain responsibility for
all records, continued airworthiness, and service of previously
produced products.
