Electronic Engineering Technician

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Others may be assigned. 

 

·         Performs research, development, design, documentation and testing of electronic components, products, and systems under the direction of senior engineering staff.

·         Qualify electronic circuits, components and systems, by constructing prototypes and test circuits and conducting qualification testing and issuing reports.

·         Assembles and tests breadboards, prototypes and test equipment per engineering project requirements.

·         Develop technical user manuals for products.

·         Evaluate electronic systems and circuits and recommend modifications to eliminate malfunctions and to improve manufacturability.

·         Use computer assisted engineering and design software / equipment to perform engineering tasks.

·         Fabricates jigs, fixtures and setups.

·         Prepares design and manufacturing drawings and procedures.

·         Supports manufacturing on the rework of deviant material and troubleshooting.

 

Qualifications

 

1.     BSEE Degree and 1 year of relevant experience or an A.S. Degree with one or two years of engineering lab experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Working knowledge of, and skills in the following areas:

·         Circuit simulation experience

·         Programming in a contemporary compiled basic language (Turbo Basic, Power Basic and Visual Basic)

·         Competence in Microsoft Word and Excel

·         Properties and circuit applications of transistors, diodes, ICs, Op Amps and passive electronic components.

·         Use of common engineering equipment including signal generators, oscilloscopes, analyzers multimeters, power supplies, visual scopes and calipers.

·         Experience using CAD/CAM software for PCB layout and schematic capture.

·         Fundamental understanding of the soldering process and its application to Printed Circuit assembly.

·         Basic understanding of Surface Mount Technology.

2.     Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. 

3.     Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

4.    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

5.    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
