Founded in August 1971 as a distributor of avionics equipment and supplies.
Artex receives a Technical Standard Order from the FAA, giving Artex the right to build and distribute battery packs for all the popular brands of ELTs.
The military qualifies Artex to manufacture government products under MIL-I-45208A.
Artex starts to manufacture its own ELT, the 110-4.
Development of a second ELT product, adding the operating frequency of 406 MHz, is completed.
Artex is purchased by Chelton, a Cobham Group company.
In 1999, Artex introduces the C406 Series three-frequency ELT with TSO C126 compliance.
Introduction of the C406-N, the first three-frequency ELT with integral ELT-NAV interface, which revolutionized Search and Rescue performance by reducing the search area from 20 km to 100 meters.
The release of the ME406 Series ELT which allows the private pilot / aircraft owner to upgrade to the 406 MHz technology with unprecedented cost efficiency.
ARTEX combines forces with other Cobham beacon design and manufacturing companies to form Cobham Beacon Solutions, the largest dedicated life-saving beacons operation in the world, which now can leverage multiple technology platforms and resources to manufacture life saving equipment.
