ACR Electronics, Inc. Introduces the RapidTrack™ S-VDR

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL-- JUNE 7, 2005-- ACR Electronics, Inc. today introduced the RapidTrack™ S-VDR-- a simplified float-free voyage data recorder.

The RapidTrack™ S-VDR is a smaller, lighter and less expensive option for commercial mariners needing to fulfill international maritime agency requirements to equip their vessels with voyage data recorders. The RapidTrack™ S-VDR is built in a sturdy float-free EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) polycarbonate case and when deployed it is capable of automatically broadcasting satellite-detectable GPS coordinates for up to seven days to aid location and retrieval.

Like black boxes carried on aircraft, S-VDRs enable accident investigators to review procedures and instructions in the moments before an accident to help to identify its cause. The RapidTrack™ S-VDR is designed to interface with bridge information systems and to record and maintain a retrievable record of the ship's nautical, technical and safety data.

A two-piece design, the float-free RapidTrack™ S-VDR includes a highly durable mounting base sub-assembly, which is fastened directly to the ship. Snugly fitted into this externally mounted hydrostatic release capsule, the S-VDR will automatically deploy once the vessel has sunk to a depth between 1.5 to 4 meters. The S-VDR beacon then floats to the surface and automatically begins broadcasting GPS coordinates to aid in location and retrieval.

Special features include:

--All data is stored in both a bridge-mounted hard disc and the float-free RapidFix™ S-VDR beacon.
--The stored data can be downloaded and analyzed for investigation, training and simulation at any time.
--The RapidTrack™ S-VDR is easy to install, service and upgrade, resulting in low installation and life cycle costs.
--The unit is small in size with low weight and its use of commercial grade off-the-shelf components ensures proven solutions and high reliability.
--The unit is maintenance free (batteries, however, need to be changed out every five years).
--The beacon can be self-tested.
