Since its founding in 1956, ACR Electronics, Inc., a Fort Lauderdale, Florida based company, has been determined to provide the best electronic life support and signaling equipment modern technology could devise. ACR rapidly became established as a leading supplier to the search and rescue communities, both commercial and government. From the dazzling heights of the NASA space program to the earthly concerns of the individual boater, flier and outdoorsman, ACR products have led the way in design, development, and durability.

A History of Saving Lives:

More than 10,000 people owe their lives to ACR. Even the Apollo 13 astronauts were among those aided by ACR, since it was specialized ACR flashlights that were the astronauts' sole light source following the explosion aboard the spacecraft. ACR has been credited with saving countless lives during military operations. Its survival beacons, hand-held VHF radios and Firefly® emergency pocket strobes are standard gear for combat troops.

For aviation markets, ACR is the dominant supplier of passenger life vest lights for the world's commercial airlines. ACR also produces emergency cabin crew megaphones and emergency transmitters (ELTs) to assist search and rescue personnel in locating downed aircraft survivors. These units are carried aboard general aviation and commercial aircraft around the globe.

For marine markets, ACR manufactures a full range of Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs), emergency VHF radios, man overboard lights, emergency life jackets lights, search lights, strobe lights and search and rescue transponders (SART). ACR manufactures the world's smallest, fastest EPIRBs and continues to bring lifesaving equipment to the marine market.

For the land-based outdoor enthusiast, ACR supplies a variety of emergency lights, including the Firefly Plus strobe and flashlight combination. ACR currently is helping shape the emerging market for personal locator beacons to be used by outdoorsmen in remote areas.

While the military initially may have been the impetus for developing many of ACR's products, the company's principal thrust today is non-military. The product range has expanded dramatically as ACR has moved to establish itself as a leading worldwide producer of safety and survival products including EPIRBs, ELTs, PLBs, Emergency Strobes, VHF Radios, SARTs, Water Activated Lights.
